Dental Implants for Twickenham Patients

Dental Implants for Twickenham Patients

A missing tooth does not stay a single problem. The teeth beside it drift, the tooth above it drops, and the bone that once held the root begins to shrink. A dental implant is the only replacement that puts a root back into the jaw and stops that process.

DentEuropa is a private and NHS dental practice on Bath Road in Hounslow, about three miles from Twickenham. Our team has placed more than 15,000 implants. Patients come to us from Twickenham, Whitton, Teddington and St Margarets, usually because they want the work done by a practice that does implants every week rather than occasionally.

Implant treatments we provide

Single tooth implants

A titanium root is placed in the jaw and, once it has integrated, a crown is fitted on top. The neighbouring teeth are left untouched – unlike a bridge, which requires them to be cut down.

Stitch-free implants

Where the bone and gum allow it, the implant can be placed through a small opening without cutting a flap or placing sutures. Recovery is usually quicker and there is less swelling. Whether this is suitable is decided from your scan, not in advance. See our stitch-free implant page.

Multiple implants, bridges and implant-supported dentures

Several missing teeth do not always need one implant each. A bridge on two or three implants, or a full arch on four to six, is often the better answer clinically and financially. See implant-supported restorations.

Bone grafting and sinus lift

If a tooth has been missing for years the bone may be too thin or too shallow for an implant. Grafting or a sinus lift rebuilds the site so the implant can be placed safely. This is planned before treatment starts, not discovered halfway through.

Treating failing implants

Implants placed elsewhere can develop gum and bone problems around them. We assess and treat peri-implantitis, and where an implant has already been lost we plan the replacement.

How much do dental implants cost?

Consultation and X-ray: £100. If you go ahead with treatment, the consultation and X-ray fee is deducted from the cost of your treatment – so your consultation is effectively free.

TreatmentFrom
SLH or XGate implant (Germany) – 15 year warranty£850
Straumann implant (Switzerland) – 20 year warranty£1,400
Abutment (XGate / SLH system)£250
Abutment (Straumann system)£300
Zirconia or Empress crown – 10 year guarantee£500
Implant-supported denture, per jaw – 5 year guarantee£1,500
Cyst operation with bone graft£1,000

A finished single implant is normally the implant plus an abutment plus a crown, so budget for all three rather than the implant figure alone. Your exact cost is confirmed in writing after your assessment. See the full price list and our treatment warranties. Treatment can be spread over up to 60 months at 0% interest.

What treatment involves

1. Assessment and planning

Examination, X-rays and a review of your general health and any medication. Smoking, uncontrolled diabetes and untreated gum disease all affect implant success, and we will tell you honestly if the odds are poor. You leave with a written plan and a cost.

2. Preparing the site

If a tooth still needs removing, or the bone needs grafting, this is done first and given time to heal.

3. Placing the implant

Done under local anaesthetic, with sedation available if you are anxious. Most people take a painkiller for a day or two and return to work the next day.

4. Healing and the crown

The implant needs roughly three to six months to fuse with the bone, depending on the site and whether grafting was needed. The crown is then made and fitted.

5. Maintenance

Implants do not decay, but the gum and bone around them can be lost to infection. Regular hygiene appointments are what protect a 15 or 20 year warranty.

Common questions

How long does a dental implant last?

With healthy gums and regular maintenance, implants routinely last well over a decade and often far longer. Our German implants carry a 15 year warranty and Straumann 20 years, subject to the written terms.

Does having an implant hurt?

Placement is done under local anaesthetic, so you feel pressure rather than pain. Most patients describe the following days as easier than they expected and manage with ordinary painkillers.

How long is the whole process?

Typically three to six months from placement to the final crown, because the bone needs that time to fuse to the implant. Grafting adds to this. Anyone promising a finished result in days is describing a different procedure.

Can I have an implant if I have lost bone?

Often yes, with grafting or a sinus lift first. The scan taken at your assessment decides it.

Do I need a referral?

No. You can book directly. We also accept referrals from other dentists.
