Retainers
Fixed and removable retainers help maintain tooth alignment after orthodontic treatment.
Fixed Retainers

A fixed retainer is a fine wire bonded to the inside surfaces of the front teeth. It stays in place throughout the day and is discreet when you smile. Careful cleaning around the wire and regular checks help keep the retainer and surrounding teeth in good condition. Contact your dentist if the wire feels loose or damaged.
Removable Retainers

A removable retainer is a custom-made appliance that you can take out. Clear retainers fit closely over the teeth, while Hawley retainers use acrylic and a fine wire. Your orthodontist will explain the wearing schedule. Remove it for meals, clean it as advised and keep it in its protective case when not in use.
Your Retention Plan
Retainer choice and long-term wear are tailored to your teeth and treatment. Some patients benefit from both types. Follow your orthodontist’s instructions and attend the recommended reviews.
